Has anyone made a donation to CARE?

This is standard language on charitable donation receipts and means that you, the donor, did not receive anything in exchange for your donation. The full amount is considered tax deductible for your filing purposes. If you did receive something for your donation, this would need to be stated on the receipt. So, for example, if you bought a ticket to a charity golf event for $300, the charity would be required to disclose a good faith estimate of the Fair Market Value of what you received on your receipt (ie, greens fees, meals, etc.). Let's say these totaled $100. In that case, you could deduct $200. Exceptions are items like mugs or calendars with the organization logo. These are considered to be of insubstantial value as long as they are below a certain dollar threshold related to the total contribution.
