Are private clubs, as 501 organizations, restricted from publicly?
The key issue here is whether the IRS *could* interpret anything on the Web site as having the potential to attract income from nonmembers of the 501(c)(7) club - regardless of whether or not that's actually their intent. The club is making sure that can't happen by restricting access to the site to members, and that's not an unreasonable approach.
